The Edge of Seventeen Movie Review
Being
a teenager is fun? You need to see this one.
There were two romance-related-thing in this movie. First, when Nadine had a
crush over someone who she barely knew, but she liked him because she often saw
him in school and facebook, and it turned out that he wasn’t as awesome as she
thought. The second one was when Nadine’s classmate, Erwin, had a crush for
Nadine, but he just took it slowly and even Nadine did not aware of that. I
really like this Erwin! (lol). Another character that I liked from this movie
is her teacher. He was patient in facing this type of problematic student.
This movie is a good option if you want to watch some life-relatable things, because I think it suits the reality of being a teenager. Being a teenager is complicated. A transition phase between childhood and adulthood is never been easy (I guess so…)

Nadine and Krista |
This movie told about a story of one young teenage girl who got into the ‘lack
of self-esteem’ since her childhood. This is probably what most of us felt.
Those feeling when you don’t know whether you’ll going to fit into your friends
and you end up being a lonely one, who got bullied sometimes. In this movie,
the main character, Nadine, was a girl who saw herself as a ‘weird one’ and
sometimes be bullied as a child. She finally made a friend, Krista, at primary
school who became her only friend. Things went well, but then a problem came
when she felt that Kristi had boyfriend. She felt like she lost someone, the
only one who always be beside her. So then, she tried to find a way out from
her problem.

In my opinion, this story is great. Because it tells you
that being a teenager with those low self-esteem, have less friends is
difficult. You always look down to yourself and feel like the world is fighting
you and they don’t like you. You feel like you want to make it better but you
just don’t know how to do it. You also have to deal with people that probably
see you as the overreacting one, the problematic one who make things difficult.
Nadine’s brother (Darian) and her mother were one of them. They, of course,
loved Nadine, but they just had no idea how to deal with Nadine and they often
got into a fight. I liked how the story goes, it had a little romance thing but
it was very cute. When you have a crush on someone but you just can’t do anything to get him/her to understand what you felt.
